1. Sealing Wood. Almost all wooden surfaces must be prepared. First you need to sand it with medium, 100 grit sandpaper and wipe it clean of any dust. Sanding the surface smooth is an essential step before applying paint. Next you need to seal it with Acrylic Sealer or Multi-Purpose Sealer. Make sure the sealant is completely dry before applying a basecoat.

- Premixed tile grout
- 2- to 3-inch putty knife (optional)
- A few damp rags

- Three 1-to 2-inch paintbrushes.

- Crackle Medium (manufactured by Plaid, makers of Mod Podge)
- Hair dryer (optional)
